Taylor Swift’s Cats: What She Says About Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson & Benjamin Button
Taylor Swift wrote in the song ‘Karma’, ‘Karma is my lap cat, cause she loves me. But Swift actually has three cats who love her. The pop star has a package deal with three cats named Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button.
The trio frequently appear in social media posts, public outings, advertisements and music videos. One of them joined her in a photo shoot for her Time Person of the Year cover in 2023. The day the cover dropped, Swift joked about the photo with Meredith Gray.
A proud cat person, Swift once told a red carpet interviewer after the Grammy Awards that she would “go home with more than one trophy,” but also “a lot of men.” “I’m not walking home with a man tonight. I’m going to hang out with my friends and go home to cats,” she said. Here’s what to know about Swift’s cats, from their breed to how they came into her life.
Meredith Gray
Meredith is the older sister of the singer’s three cats. Swift adopted a Scottish fold cat in 2011 and named him after Ellen Pompeo’s character on “Grey’s Anatomy.” Meredith, like her kitty sisters, is a star on Swift’s social media. Swift shared some advice straight from Meredith during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meredith, who has her own IMDb page, appeared in the music video for Swift’s 2019 track “ME” with Brendan Urie sitting on the couch next to Meredith Swift’s second cat, Olivia. This video introduces Swift to her third cat – more on that later.
Olivia Benson
Swift adopted her second cat, Olivia Benson, in 2014. She was named after Mariska Hargitt’s “Law & Order: SVU” character. Nearly a decade later, Hargitte returned the favor and named her cat Karma after Swift’s track “Midnights.” Like Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson is a Scottish Fold cat.
Benjamin Button
Continuing the theme, Swift’s youngest cat also has a pop culture-inspired name. Benjamin Button Named after Brad Pitt’s character in the 2008 film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”. Swift’s music video for “ME!” co-starring two other cats. Swift first met a ragdoll cat on its set.
Backstage, Swift picks up Benjamin, who sits on her lap. “She’s crying,” Swift repeated as she petted him. Soon, he wins over her. “Can I have him?” he asked.Chick-fil-A Near New York USA
He shivers when he finds out she’s available, then proceeds to walk with him. “I’m addicted to this animal,” he said. “I’ve never seen a cat love people so much. Look, how sweet he is!’ “I know kittens are cute but that kitten is special,” she continued. “He’s an amazing, amazing little creature.
Brandon Urie noted that his blue eyes are the same color as Swift’s. “I think it could be your child,” he said. “I must have forgotten to give birth to him,” he jokes.
Finally he brought Benjamin home. When Benjamin celebrated his 22nd birthday (in cat years) in 2021, Swift confirmed that he was feeling “22 years old.”
