At present, several active steps are being taken by the central government to increase employment and make the people of the country fluent in various workplaces. Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana has been launched by the Central Government to provide assistance to artisans who depend on manual labor and traditional tools for work.
The scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17th September 2023. One of the central government’s main objectives behind launching this scheme is to improve the standard of living of the artisans or working-class people of the country. An allocation of Rs 13,000 crore has been announced behind this scheme to further enhance the quality and acceptability of artisans’ work. What is Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana?
PM Vishwakarma Yojana is a central sector scheme launched by the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises. Through this scheme, collateral-free loans, skill training, modern tools, incentives for digital transactions and market linkage support are being provided to artisans. Through this initiative, efforts are being made to technologically upgrade the artisans to enable them to compete in developed markets domestically and globally. Eligibility of Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana
People aged 18 years and above who are engaged in family-oriented traditional handicrafts in the unorganized sector and are working as self-reliant persons will benefit from this scheme. At present, a total of 18 types of artisans are being provided with this facility. These include occupations such as spinners, boat makers, ironworkers, goldsmiths, tanners, potters, sculptors, masons, barbers, washermen, tailors, and fishing net makers.

Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana
Persons under Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana will get the following benefits:
Artisans will be awarded a PM Vishwakarma certificate in recognition of their respective work skills. They will also get an ID card.
Beneficiaries will get a Tuklit incentive of Rs 15,000 along with specific modern equipment for the job after skill assessment.
A 5-7 day basic skill training will be given to the artisans with a stephan of Rs. 500 per day. Among them, training will be given on various topics including modern tools, digital and financial skills, branding, marketing, and credit support.
After Basic Training: Technicians can also take 15 days advanced training with a daily allowance of Rs. 500. At this stage, they will be specially skilled in latest technology, design and many other fields.
After initial skill training, artisans will be eligible for a deposit-free loan of up to Rs 1 lakh. In this case, the facility of repaying the loan in 18 months is also available.

Apply for your required benefits under the scheme
Enrollment of beneficiaries will be verified through three steps:
- Gram Panchayat or City Local Body (ULB) verification
- Verification and recommendation at District Implementation Committee level
- Screening Committee Approval
