Introduction
Mahua Moitra on Sunday filed a complaint with the Election Commission regarding the series of raids conducted by the CBI on her properties in West Bengal. He stressed the need for the election body to establish guidelines for the conduct of the CBI during the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct.
On Saturday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at various places linked to Mahua Moitra in Kolkata, Krishnanagar and Karimpur. The search was related to the alleged cash-for-query case due to which he was expelled from the last Lok Sabha.Ayodhya’s Set to Holi Celebrations Follow Joyous Ram Mandir’s Pran Pratishtha on 24th March
Of the four premises subject to illegal raids conducted by the CBI, two were confirmed to be used for official purposes. This fact is clear from the CBI’s own ‘search list’, in which it has admitted that one property served as an election campaign office and the other as my MP office.

Mahua said, “There is no doubt that the CBI was fully aware that their actions were aimed at suppressing my election campaign efforts and illegally harassing me.”
Mahua emphasized that despite the lack of findings by the CBI during the raids, they created a widespread uproar in various media outlets. This, he claimed, brought suspicion and contempt upon him. He further said that such baseless allegations made by CBI only gave undue advantage to his political opponents, causing loss to themselves.
The Trinamool candidate from Krishnanagar expressed his understanding of the need for a CBI investigation. However, he raised concerns about the timing and methodology and suggested that they gave rise to enough suspicion to indicate potential political influence.
Mahua stressed the unprecedented and monitored nature of the situation and reminded the Election Commission of its proactive measures to maintain a fair electoral environment for all political parties. He suggested that a central investigation agency, which falls under the jurisdiction of the ruling party at the Centre, should be carefully monitored so as to prevent any politically motivated actions favoring the ruling party under the guise of investigation.
