
RG Kar Medical College Protests across the country over the death of a female RGCO doctor. A letter has already been written to Union Health Minister JP Nadda on behalf of the Indian Medical Association. It has been demanded that the central government should immediately make a special law to stop torture on doctors. On Tuesday, the medical system of the entire country has deteriorated a lot.
Due to the death of a female doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital, only emergency services are open in various hospitals across the country. Doctors have stopped medical services in all other departments. The Federation of Resident Doctors Association has already written to the Union Health Minister. Doctors protested at King George Medical University in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. All services have been suspended except for emergency services. A similar picture was seen at JJ Hospital, Sion Hospital and King Edward Hospital in Mumbai. There too, all other types of work except emergency services are closed.
The same picture has been caught in Delhi’s AIIMS. 80 percent of doctors in Kolkata have gone on strike to protest against the RG tax incident. A civic volunteer has already been arrested for this incident. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has asked the police to complete the investigation into the incident by Sunday. Otherwise, the investigation of this incident will be handed over to the CBI.
After Monday, there is deadlock on Tuesday as well. The movement is ongoing in the case of rape and murder of a young doctor. After Monday, the doctors continued their strike on Tuesday as well. However, the movement is now not limited to RG Kar Medical College. Several organizations across the state have come forward to demand fair trial. A civic procession was held up to RG Kar Medical College on Monday.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister has given the Kolkata Police a deadline till Sunday. Otherwise the investigation will go to CBI. A rush of patients was also seen on Tuesday morning. But on this day, when the nurses entered the college in the morning, they were seen leaving almost immediately.
Kolkata Police interrogated seven people in this incident till midnight on Monday. Assistant Superintendent of RG Kar and Head of Chest Medicine have been summoned for questioning on Tuesday morning. Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar, has been transferred to National Medical College. Students have also started a movement there. The administrative building itself has been locked. The protestors said, ‘Look how influential he is’.
