The new women-centric film ‘Crew’ was released in theaters today. The movie draws inspiration from the story of Vijay Mallya and Kingfisher Airlines. The film stars Shashwata Chatterjee as Vijay Walia, the owner of Kohinoor Airlines. Tabu plays the role of Geeta Shetty, while Kareena Kapoor Khan plays Jasmine, and Kriti Sanon plays Divya, all of whom work as cabin crew members of Kohinoor Airlines.

The 124-minute film has elements of comedy, suspense and a predictable heist with plenty of glamour. Produced by the team behind “Veere Di Wedding”, it notably avoids pseudo-feminism, nudity or obsession with “Four More Shots Please”. This departure from their previous work can be attributed to Rhea Kapoor’s decision to produce directly instead. The film offers a light and enjoyable viewing experience without heavy messages about women empowerment.

Story

Acting

A film starring Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Tabu in lead roles, along with Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma in supporting roles, promises excellent performances. Kareena Kapoor embodies brilliance, ambition, edginess, glamour, wit and a no-nonsense attitude in the crew. She exudes a Bebo-like charm in this film. Meanwhile, Tabu delivers standout lines showcasing his extraordinary talent.

The seniority of the cabin crew member is convincingly portrayed by the actor through his gestures, acting and behavior. Additionally, Kriti Sanon’s performance, though slightly overshadowed by others, shines through her precise emotional expressions. The chemistry between Diljit and Kriti is remarkable, suggesting that their love story could be explored with more screen time. Crew movie has a mix of successful and less successful musical numbers. “Ghagra” and “Choli Ke Piche Kya Hai” blend seamlessly into the film, enhancing the narrative without feeling out of place. However, the opening song and the melancholy track fell short of my expectations.
