Devan chicken is a delightful casserole that combines tender chicken, broccoli and a creamy sauce. There are a few variations of this classic dish, so I’ll give you a few recipes to choose from

Broccoli Chicken Divan

  • Ingredients:
    • 1 pound chopped fresh broccoli
    • 1 ½ cups cubed, cooked chicken meat
    • 1 can (10.75 ounces) condensed cream of soup
    • ½ cup milk
    • 1 ½ cups shredded Cheddar cheese
    • Buttered breadcrumbs (for topping)

Instructions:

1-Steam broccoli in a saucepan until tender and then drain.

2. Place broccoli evenly in a nine-inch pie plate.

2. Arrange the cooked on top of the broccoli.

3. Combine the condensed soup, milk and shredded cheddar cheese in a mixing bowl, then pour the mixture over the broccoli.

4. Sprinkle the buttered breadcrumbs on top.

5. Bake at 450°F (230°C) until the dish is golden brown.

6. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Easy Chicken Divan

2 cups cooked , shredded or shredded 2 cups broccoli florets, steamed or blanched 1 can (10.75 oz) condensed cream of chicken soup ½ cup mayonnaise 2 tablespoons melted butter 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon curry powder 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese ½ cup chopped mushrooms (optional) ½ cup chopped water chestnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the soup concentrate, mayonnaise, melted butter, lemon juice and curry powder. Place broccoli evenly in a casserole dish. Layer with cooked ,mushrooms (if desired), and water chestnuts (if desired). Pour the soup mixture over the layered ingredients. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the mixture is bubbly and the cheese is golden. Serve the casserole hot and enjoy.
